Unyeway, Inc. is a California, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation which is committed to providing quality training, support, and employment services to adults with developmental disabilities in San Diego County.

OUR MISSION

TO ENHANCE AND ENRICH THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES BY EMPLOYING AND EMPOWERING THEM IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.

Unyeway, Inc. has been involved in providing training programs since 1983 to adults with developmental disabilities who are referred to us by the State of California Department of Rehabilitation and the San Diego Regional Center. Our unique name, “Unyeway”, means “friend” or “friendship” and is a word given to us by the Barona Band of Mission Indians. Our programs began in 1977 under another San Diego non-profit, the MAAC Project, and were located on the Barona Indian Reservation. In 1983 Unyeway, Inc. incorporated as a separate non-profit and relocated the agency and its programs to Ramona, California. Over 25 years of successful operations has allowed Unyeway, Inc. to expand into all areas of San Diego County. Unyeway, Inc. facilities are now located in Ramona, Lakeside, and Chula Vista California. In addition, our cooperative agreements with many San Diego County employers also enables our program participants to be integrated into most geographic locations and many of the various vocations held by our county’s workforce. All Unyeway, Inc. participants are supported in their individual quest for personal development, attaining independence, and reaching their employment goals by a professional and dedicated team of Unyeway, Inc. employees. Staff guidance and supervision is provided on an individualized basis and at varying ratios from one to one interaction to group interaction in classroom or work group settings.

Unyeway, Inc. is grateful to many San Diego County businesses, foundations, and individuals who support our agency each year. We are a United Way Legacy Agency and receive varying levels of funding each year from the United Way. Private foundation grants and individual donations are also used for Unyeway, Inc.’s programs. We are proud of the fact that over 91% of every dollar donated is used for direct program operations.
